Around 300 protesters gathered at Rame Head, Cornwall to challenge the continued dredging and disposal of silt around a Marine Conservation Zone. Demonstrators braved the rain today to protest the continued dumping of coastal waste around Rame Head in Cornwall, following an application by Ministry of Defence contractors to continue using the site for another two years. Local residents are concerned that much of the thousands of tonnes of silt and sludge that have already been dumped is being washed up on nearby beaches, including Whitsand Bay, a recently declared Marine Conservation Zone. A decision over the licence renewal is due imminently.
