On Saturday 6th July 2014, Appledore Pilot Gig Club hosted what was probably the most closely fought and exciting Regatta in the club’s history. Large numbers of spectators lined the Quay on an exceptionally beautiful sunny day to watch and cheer the competing clubs from Appledore, Barnstaple, Bideford, Boscastle, Bude, Clevedon, Clovelly, Ilfracombe & Torridge.
The event closed with a raffle and prizegiving on the slipway with Ilfracombe taking the overall trophy just one point ahead of host club Appledore. Each year the gap between the top clubs has narrowed and Appledore have high hopes of finally collecting the winners' trophy next year.
Overall Winners – Ilfracombe in Rapparee, with host club Appledore just one point behind in Whitford.
